Nancy’s Journey of Triumph

In the bustling city of Nairobi, the story of Nancy unfolds – a testament to the transformative power of education and the impact of the Kenya Education Fund (KEF). Nancy’s journey echoes the impact that KEF scholarships have on families, personal growth, and communities. At 25 years old, she is a trainee estate manager at Tropical Farm Management Kenya a company that deals in managing coffee farms in Kenya.

Nancy’s story starts in Siaya where she was born, her life bore the mark of challenges early on. The loss of her mother at the tender age of five meant that she was raised by her grandmother. Struggling amidst hardships, she cooked mandazi by the roadside to sustain herself and her grandmother.

In 2012, the pivotal moment arrived when she was to join high school. However, financial constraints held her back, and her aspirations were put on hold. Their desperate cry for help reached the heavens, and in March of that year, KEF emerged as an answer to her prayers, and in a life-changing moment she was awarded the KEF scholarship. The joy was indescribable, and she could now go to secondary school albeit a month later than her peers.

Education, once an unattainable dream, was made possible through KEF. It wasn't just a financial relief; it was the realization of her grandmother's words that God would provide. The scholarship lifted the burden from her family, lightening her grandmother's guilt-laden heart.

Unfortunately, Nancy lost her grandmother in 2014 while in form 3(Junior year). This was a big blow to her life. Life skill programs offered by KEF enriched her journey, offering insights, guidance, and a network of like-minded individuals. Career mentorship and exposure to diverse life paths enriched her perspective. The workshops further shaped her, building her confidence, and equipping her with practical life skills.

KEF Bridge scholarship saw her admitted at Pwani University, where she graduated with First class honors in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and Enterprise Development, a testament to her determination. Nancy is currently working as a trainee estate manager at Tropical Farm Management Kenya-a company that deals in managing coffee farms in Kenya, she dreams of becoming a professor in the agricultural field, using her knowledge to transform the sector.

To KEF and its donors, Nancy’s gratitude knows no bounds, her donor’s generosity has set her on a trajectory of success, and she's committed to paying it forward. Her parting words, “Thank you, KEF, for transforming lives and dreams, one scholar at a time. Your impact resonates far beyond education, shaping futures and igniting the flames of change. May your mission continue to flourish, and may your heart of generosity inspire others to join this noble cause.”
