Bradley Broder
Founder/President
Brad served two years as a Health volunteer for the Peace Corps in Kenya beginning in 1999. Upon returning to the US, he received his MA in political science where he focused on international development and corruption. He started The KEF as a way to help a few children he befriended while in the Peace Corps, but today it has grown into something much bigger. Brad's intimate knowledge of Kenyan culture, the Kiswahili language and development issues have contributed to the uniquely straightforward design of this program, which minimizes corruption and optimizes results. Brad has listened carefully to the needs of poor Kenyans. What they need and want is a good education.
Dominic Muasya
Kenya Country Director
Dominic Muasya is a Public Health Officer (Environmental Health Officer) working for the Ministry of Health. He is in charge of Kikuyu Division of Kiambu District in Central Province. Kikuyu Division is termed as the richest in Kenya with a poverty level of only 16%. It's 25km from Nairobi.
Dominic hails from the small village of Tala and is second of five boys. He graduated from Kenya Medical Training College and worked in Loitoktok before being transfered to Kikuyu Division, Kiambu District. Dominic is fluent in English, Kiswahili, Kikamba and Kikuyu and has over 6 years of practical experience living and working with rural communities. He has an a nuanced understanding of their cultures and the hardships they face. Having grown up poor himself, he knows that a good education is what they desperately need.
It would be Dominic's dream to see as many children as possible getting better education so as to stand a chance to improve their lives and those of their families. He is optimistic that KEF will grow to become a big organization and take in very many children. Maybe we shall one day build a very big institution for orphans and other disadvantaged children where they will receive the best education and other related care.
Life is not easy in Africa. It's very challenging and people need to be equipped to face it. Education is the best weapon. If needy children can be given this weapon, they stand a better chance in the future.
